“Be the change you want to see in the world” Gandhi

As a helping professional and transformational leader, each time you increase your self-awareness, nourish your spirit, reduce stress, take care of yourself – you are improving your emotional, psychological, physical and spiritual health.  This supports you to work from a place of well-being, serving with authenticity and integrity.  You are in alignment.  You are walking your talk.  You are Present. You can truly make a difference in all areas of your life AND stay healthy, grounded and fulfilled doing your important work in the world. While there are incredible opportunities for “compassion satisfaction” and career fulfillment within helping, transformational and caregiving professions, there are also risks for the occupational hazards that can be common in such fields of work, these include job stress, burnout, primary trauma/vicarious trauma (in high trauma work) and compassion fatigue.  In order to prevent and/or heal from these occupational hazards, all helpers, healers and caregivers benefit from having soulful self-care and personal renewal practices that help you nourish your spirit, process your emotions, and tap into the whispers of balance, wisdom and well-being that inherently reside within you.  This helps “compassion satisfaction”and optimal health to naturally flow for those of us who serve the well-being and personal growth needs of others.  This is what it means to “BE The Change.” You invest in your well-being and growth to serve the same in others.  You turn inward to reflect and renew so that you can compassionately balance caring for yourself and caring for others.  You show up for yourself in meaningful ways. Journaling and expressive writing are powerful tools for self-care and personal growth, they offer pathways home within yourself.  Writing can heal and nourish you in mind, body, heart and spirit. Start in this moment with the following journaling prompt:  Right now, I feel….(write about any feelings, thoughts, sensations, etc. that you are are noticing in this moment)…keep your pen moving for 15 minutes.  If you get stuck, simply start your next sentence with the prompt again:  Right now, I  feel or I am feeling…
